Hi Blog
Euromillions rollovers are increasing the number of lottery players, attracted by the chance to win huge jackpots, like Colin and Chris Weir who won £161 million in July 2011.
Camelot who runs the National Lottery introduced a second weekly Euromillions Draw and reveal that sales have incresed almost 20% to £3.26 billion in just 6 months. That's an extra £542.4 million in extra tickets and scratchcards which enabled Camelot to pay out £918 million to good causes.
But what is of most interest to players is the fact that £1.69 billion was paid out to players raising the amount paid out since the launch in 1994 to over £40 billion while creating more than 2,700 millionaires.
Now having proved the success of Euromillions the operators are looking to join forces with other lotteries in America, Australia and Spain to create even vaster payouts.
So what does all this lottery activity mean to you and me? Well the the most obvious result is that there is a lot more prize money to share out, although winning your share as a solitary player is as difficult as it has ever been.
Cue the advent of public lottery syndicates which make it make way easier to win a prize - in fact 1 in 4 jackpots are won by syndicates so this is the way to go if you are hoping to pop open the champagne to spray everywhere rather than drink the stuff.

PS Today the jackpot is £60 million so 21 multi-millionaires could be created
